One of the most barbaric acts of GBV imaginable has taken place over the weekend, with police confirming that a female victim had been partially dismembered by her killer in KZN. The details are not for the faint-hearted.

GRUESOME DISCOVERY MADE IN KZN ‘ANGLE GRINDER MURDER’

The tragedy has been exacerbated by the fact that the woman’s nephew was the first person to discover her mutilated body. So far, we’ve been able to establish the following information, after a murder case was opened with SAPS:

  • – The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Philisiwe Mvubu.
  • – It’s understood this heinous crime was committed near the Mkhazini region of KwaMakhutha.
  • – Allegedly, the woman was murdered following a domestic dispute.
  • – Mvubu was subjected to multiple stabwounds, before her body was found by her young nephew.
  • – An angle grinder had also been used, it’s reported, to ‘cut up the body’ for its disposal.
  • – The perp, apparently known to the woman, remains at large on Monday.

FEARS FOR NEPHEW WHO DISCOVERED THE BODY, AS SEARCH FOR KILLER CONTINUES

The sickening developments drew an angered response from KZN Social Development MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza. She has stated that their focus is now on treating the traumatised child, who was exposed to a scene of abject horror.

“It is alleged that the man used an angle grinder to cut the victim into pieces and left her to die while locked inside their house. Our sympathies are with the family at this difficult time and, as the department, we will support them in all ways.”

“Our social workers will also assist the child who witnessed this brutal incident. We will ensure that the child gets counselling in order to be able to deal with what he witnessed and be able to move on with his life.”
