WATCH TENSIONS GROW BETWEEN COMMUNITY VIGILANTE GROUPS AND COPS

An off-duty Metro Police cop was shot and wounded at a community road block in Halifax Road in Montclair, Durban. The cop’s car was allegedly riddled with bullets by civilians who formed a road block in the area on Wednesday night.

Citizens in KwaZulu-Natal, especially in suburbs have decided to take a stand against the uncontrollable rioting that has engulfed parts of South Africa. A series of videos posted online show various communities arming themselves up, protecting stores and businesses from the swathes of looters.

METRO POLICE HEAD CONDEMNS ‘ATTACK’

Durban metro police head, Steve Middleton, said the vigilante group has no right to limit access to any area. Middleton also shared a picture of the cop and his car that was shot at.
